Dec 19, 2023 (newstodate): A subsidiary of TAV Airports, the ground handling company Havas has renewed its ground handling license for a third period until 2031 at Riga Airport.
At Riga International Airport, Havas provides passenger and operation services including passenger and baggage handling, ramp, aircraft cleaning, load control and communication, de-icing, flight operations, transportation, representation, and supervision services to airlines including Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines, Norwegian Airlines, Wizzair, British Airways, SkyUp, Smartlynx, Transavia and Aegean.
On April 12, 2010, Riga Airport actually became Havas' first ground handling base outside Turkey as the company acquired 50 percent of North Hub Services, established in 2009 by Baltijas Aviacijas Sistemas, taking over the handling contract with airBaltic.
airBaltic however started own ground handling from November 2021, abrogating the contract with Havas as part of the airline's cost improvement program to simplify its business and operations - and in addition enabling the carrier to re-employ part of its former employees.
