Dec 04, 2023 (newstodate): In the latest air safety black list published on November 30, 2023, the EU Commission keeps 129 airlines out of its airspace.
Not surprisingly, 22 Russian airlines are now included and barred from EU airspace, while one newcomer is the Iraqi carrier Fly Baghdad, joining Iraqi Airways that remains on the list while actually operating flights to destinations including Copenhagen offering flights on two routes, however using Boeing 737-800 aircraft wet-leased from the Turkish carrier Tailwind Airlines.
Excepting now also Russia, the last CIS member state remaining on the EU Commission's list of airlines banned from flights into its airspace, Kyrgyzstan is keen to exit the "bad standing" - but has remained on the latest issue of the EU black list, as is also the case with Libya.
After a series of accidents and incidents, Nepal's 20 airlines are now also included on the list that is otherwise dominated by airlines certified by African countries.
