Dec 19, 2023 (newstodate): Finnair is celebrating the recovery from its financial troubles since the start of Covid-19, executing a rights issue of 570 mio euros in November 2023.
The strengthened balance sheet and cash funds has now enabled the carrier to spend some 200 mio euros on the purchase of six previously leased A321 aircraft from BOC Aviation.
On December 30, 2015, Finnair inked a MoU with Singapore-based BOC Aviation Pte Ltd for the lease of four new Airbus A321-200 aircraft, scheduled for delivery to Finnair during the first half of 2017 on lease agreements covering a minimum term of eight years.
The LoI with BOC also covered the option for lease of another two A321-200 aircraft - and this right was exercised already in February 2016 as Finnair signed up for the lease of the two aircraft slated for delivery to Finnair during the winter season 2017/2018.
And now these six aircraft are turned into Finnair property as their lease periods expire.
