Dec 19, 2023 (newstodate): The cooperation between the Estonian company Nordica and the German carrier Marabu has reportedly come to an end.
According to German aviation media, the three Airbus A320 aircraft involved in the cooperation have been transferred from Estonian to German AOC, while the Nordica staff involved in the cooperation with Marabu are being pulled out.
The split comes after roughly one year of troubled operations seeing a wide range of operational start-up issues and flight delays on the part of Marabu, while Nordica has been bleeding financially to the point that the government has entered negotiations with potential buyers to sell the state-owned airline Nordica.
According to Estonian media, talks with interested parties are already shaping up, and concrete negotiations will commence before the end of December 2023, with companies including MES Aviation, Avion Express and the Avia Solutions Group tentatively mentioned as potential participants.
In February 2023, the Estonian airline Nordic Aviation Group signed a long-term service agreement with Marabu to support its launch of operations in the German market.
Under the contract, NAG allocated three Airbus A320neo aircraft to Marabu at bases in Hamburg and Munich, as well as providing various additional supporting services.
The NAG aircraft have been operating on an ACMI basis for flights to leisure destinations along the Mediterranean Sea, the Canaries and the Red Sea.
Behind Marabu as sole owner is the British investment firm Attestor that also holds 51 percent of the shares in Condor.
