Dec 05, 2023 (newstodate): Pollution from aviation is sure to receive its due attention during the ongoing COP28 in Dubai.
To participate in the negotiations and their related activities, more than 140 heads of state, flying in on private or state-owned aircraft, will join the crowds of officials, politicians, media representatives, business executives and concerned environmentalists, bringing over 70,000 people to the event.
The enormous gathering by over 70,000 people will add strongly to the air traffic at airports in the UAE; estimates are that the volume of traffic will go up by some 10 percent.
Dubai International has projected that it would see the busiest winter ever with nearly 4,400 weekly flights operating out of the airport, marking a 20 percent increase from the previous winter season.
So the COP28 will indeed result in a strong focus on pollution from the aviation industry, boosted by the feel-good attention by some 70,000 air passengers...
