Dec 12, 2023 (newstodate): Azerbaijan's Silk Way West Airlines is on a firm growth trajectory, adding capacity to the fleet.
The carrier has now taken delivery of its second Boeing 777F freighter, after the first aircraft joined the fleet in October 2023.
In total, the carrier has placed orders for seven Boeing 777F, with deliveries to be completed by 2027.
Based at Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the carrier already five 747-8F and seven 747-400F, as well as the two Boeing 777F.
In June 2022, Silk Way West also placed an order with Airbus - the first inked with this aircraft company - for two Airbus A350 freighters, and the carrier is also to take in two 777-8F aircraft by 2029.
In Scandinavia, Silk Way West Airlines is operating two weekly Boeing 747-400F/747-8F flights at Oslo Airport coming in from Liege and continuing to Baku with Norwegian seafood for transfer to a Chinese destination.
Earlier, Silk Way West Airlines was also operating flights from Oslo Airport in 2019, but on a charter basis only.
The carrier's designated representative for the Nordics is either AviationPlus or Kales Airline Services, with bookings managed by the office at Amsterdam.
