Nov 14, 2023 (newstodate): Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport still remains down in cargo volumes in 2023, compared to last year.
In October 2023, the airport handled a total of 8,577 tonnes of cargo - down 9.4 percent y-o-y.
And in the first ten months of this year, the airport has been handling 75,177 tonnes of cargo, which is also still down by 13.3 percent compared to last year.
Statistically, the picture may brighten up somewhat after November 2023 as the shadows from Finnair's long haul hub at Stockholm Airport are finally coming to an end; Finnair launched flights from Stockholm Airport to destinations in the USA and Thailand in October 2021 but stopped again from winter 2022/23, closing its hub at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
Also contributing to brighter future cargo statistics at Stockholm Airport will be the launch by Lufthansa Cargo of the freighter service starting from November 4, 2023, with a weekly Airbus A321F carrying exports into Frankfurt Airport for onward global connections.
