Nov 07, 2023 (newstodate): Finnair reports an increase by 8.6 percent, y-o-y, in cargo volumes carried in the first 10 months of this year.
A total of 110,630 tonnes of cargo was thus carried on the airline's network, with loads on the Asian traffic increasing by 29.3 percent, y-o-y, to 59,384 tonnes.
In the same period, loads on the North American lanes remain low at 12,560 tonnes, down 54.9 percent, as discontinued operations between Sweden and the US cut North Atlantic cargo capacity.
With 18,655 tonnes, loads on the M East traffic are now almost on a par with the carrier's European traffic due to the cooperation with Qatar Airways, where cargo capacity is fully allocated to and sold by Qatar Airways while reported by Finnair under Middle East cargo figures.
In October '23 alone, Finnair carried a total of 12,551 tonnes of cargo which was an increase by 27.4 percent, with Asian loads also up 31.2 percent to 6,557 tonnes.
Finnair is thus firmly recovering in cargo month by month; in the first eight months the increase was 4.7 percent, y-o-y, growing to 6.6 percent in the first nine months - and now up 8.6 percent during January-October 2023.
