Nov 20, 2023 (newstodate): The Ukrainian carrier SkyUp Airlines is looking back on a strong summer season in ACMI operations.
With a fleet of 10 Boeing 737NG aircraft, the carrier and its Maltese subsidiary performed 6,904 flights with 1,047,555 passengers from April 1 to November 1, 2023, compared to 5,412 flights and 827,482 passengers in summer '22.
Topping the list of markets served by SkyUp Airlines in summer '23 was Moldova, followed by Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt and Germany and operated on behalf of airline customers including Tunisair, FlyOne, HiSky SRL, HiSky Europe SRL, Wizz Air Malta, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, Corendon Dutch, Tailwind Airlines and FlyEgypt.
In 2023, SkyUp Airlines received FAR129 and FAOC foreign air carrier certificates in the USA and Canada, allowing the Ukrainian airline to scale up its activities in North America providing ACMI services and perform charter flights.
This will prove helpful in allowing the carrier to shift capacity from summer-seasonal European charter flights to other markets during the slack period.
