Nov 03, 2023 (newstodate): Changed geopolitical conditions after Russia's war on Ukraine leading to an increased sanctions regime is seeing air cargo volumes between Russia and China soaring.
In the first half of 2023, air cargo volumes between Russia and China grew by more than 6.2 percent, y-o-y, corresponding to 3.2 million tonnes.
The air services connecting China and Russia constitute a branched network comprising 33 sought-after routes that connect 12 major Russian cities including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, and 11 Chinese megacities such as Chongqing, Beijing, and Shanghai.
These air routes are served by 11 Russian and four Chinese air carriers.
