Nov 08, 2023 (newstodate): The Romanian carrier AirConnect that started domestic flight operations only in 2022 has found new owners in Italy.
   The Italian carrier Aeroitalia - that also started operations only in 2022 - has thus acquired close to 94 percent of the shares in the Romanian airline aiming at boosting its presence on the Italian regional market and strengthen the feeding capacity towards its hub at Rome Fiumicino airport.
   Aeroitalia operates a fleet of nine aircraft, including seven Boeing 737 aircraft and orders placed for another two Boeing 737-800 and three Boeing 737-8 aircraft.
   In its fleet are also two ATR72-600, and the acquisition of AirConnect will bring in two more aircraft of this type to serve on shorter domestic routes to smaller Italian airports.
