Nov 15, 2023 (newstodate): Norwegian is to expand its route net from Latvia's Riga Airport in summer 2024.
   So far, however, only two new routes have been announced - but they are notably the first routes by Norwegian out of Riga Airport that are not just connecting to Scandinavian destinations.
   New to come are thus flights in Summer 2024 from Riga to Corfu and Tivat.
   Norwegian is also aiming at opening Riga Airport as a new base by summer 2024, earlier slated for launch in summer 2023 but postponed due to sustained delays in Boeing aircraft deliveries.
   This was not, however, the first delay to Norwegian's plans, including those of the "old" Norwegian that aimed at setting up a base at Riga Airport already by mid-2016, with one Boeing 737-800 aircraft allocated for a start.
     In 2020, Norwegian also set up a new service center in Riga, Norwegian Air Resources Latvia, to provide world-wide customer service support, instead of relying on outsourcing of activities in individual markets.
