Nov 24, 2023 (newstodate): The Estonian aviation company Nordica is heading towards a sale.
According to the Estonian vice-chancellor of the Ministry of Climate, the government is entering negotiations with potential buyers to sell the long-loss state airline Nordica that reported losses for the first nine months of 2023 amounting to almost 12 million euros.
According to Estonian media, talks with interested parties are already shaping up, and concrete negotiations will commence before the end of December 2023, with companies including MES Aviation, Avion Express and the Avia Solutions Group tentatively mentioned as potential participants.
-The State has decided to sell Nordica. So far, no specific objective has been set on how to sell the airline, whether entirely or by selling just a share. All of these scenarios are possible. We have met with a couple of companies and made initial contacts, now the next step is to start a substantive discussion with them. Nordica's future will become clearer by the end of the year, the vice-chancellor said in a TV-interview.
Headquartered in Tallinn, the Nordica group operates flights under two brands, two IOSA-certified AOC’s - XFLY operating nine ATR72-600 and nine CRJ900 and Nordica operating four A320 aircraft.
Xfly and Nordica has been operating within the framework of long-term ACMI partnerships with SAS, TAP and MARABU and for the summer 2023 with Cyprus Airways.
