Nov 09, 2023 (newstodate): Rumors abound of plans for further acquisitions by Lithuania's Avia Solutions Group, ASG.
According to media, ASG is looking into an acquisition of the Spanish wet-lease/ACMI carrier Wamos Air with HQ at Madrid Airport and operating a fleet of 11 Airbus A330 aircraft.
At this stage, the rumors are, however, vehemently refuted by Wamos Air.
-We are doing very well, and now we are not looking to sell. The shareholder has the obligation and vocation to listen to any offer that comes from the market, but for now there is nothing. However, when something goes well, it is attractive in the market, says Eduardo Montes, Wamos Air Exec President of Wamos, in Spanish media.
An acquisition by ASG of Wamos Air would bolster ASG's position in the Spanish and, indeed, the Spanish-speaking markets, fitting nicely with its overall global ambitions.
-Our paramount business direction remains in ACMI services. With an evident surge in market demand, our investments are not only directed at fleet advancement but also encompass the strategic acquisition of airlines to strengthen our position in the markets, bolstering our operational prowess and extending our global flight footprint, Jonas Janukenas, CEO of Avia Solutions Group CEO, said earlier this year.
In H1/23, ASG's airline companies included SmartLynx Airlines, Avion Express, Bluebird Nordic, BBN Indonesia Airlines, KlasJet, and Magma Aviation.
And by the start of July, 2023, Avia Solutions Group announced the acquisition of yet another airline, the UK-based carrier Synergy Aviation, Ltd., soon to be rebranded as Ascend Airways, adding a UK AOC to its capabilities and paving the road for further expansion in the UK market.
