Nov 22, 2023 (newstodate): Since earlier this month, Iraqi Airways is back on routes connecting Iraq and Denmark, left void since April this year.
The carrier is now offering flights on two routes - one operating from Baghdad to Copenhagen via Najaf starting from November 12, 2023, and the other operating from Baghdad to Copenhagen via Erbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan starting from November 15, 2023.
In both cases, flights are operated with Boeing 737-800 aircraft wet-leased from the Turkish carrier Tailwind Airlines.
On July 16, 2015, EASA revoked its Third Country Operator Authorization to Iraqi Airways, required for airlines to operate within EU airspace, and Iraqi Airways was placed on the EU Air Safety Black List.
Until then, Iraqi Airways had been operating flights between Stockholm Arlanda and Baghdad, Najaf and Erbil in Iraq as well as flights between Copenhagen Airport and Baghdad and Erbil.
