Nov 17, 2023 (newstodate): The Transport and logistics company Blue Water with HQ in Denmark is determined to grow its role in air cargo along with its well-established position in sea and land business.
-In 2023, we will be handling some 35,000 tonnes of perishables air cargo out of Europe, of which Norway alone will be contributing slightly more than half, Jesper Nielsen, Blue Water Head of Air Perishables, said at Blue Water's Seafood Logistics Seminar in Oslo on November 15.
-A decision was made to increase our share in the significant Norwegian market for seafood exports by air, adding to our longstanding engagement in this sector by sea and road transport solutions.
-Starting from September 5, 2022, Blue Water Norway thus launched business with a dedicated team of initially six members headed by Morten Wurgler to focus on the needs among Norwegian seafood exporters for new, innovative logistics solutions to bring the country's seafood exports to the global marketplace.
-The process has proved a success; in 2021, our volumes of perishables out of Norway by air totaled 2,500 tonnes. This increased to 6,000 tonnes in 2022, but will spike in 2023 to 18,000 tonnes, expected to grow further to some 30,000 tonnes next year.
-Crucial to this success is building up long-term and solid relations with stakeholders in this industry that form a network marked by strong personal relationships and experience formed over time.
-Playing a core role in our efforts is Morten Wurgler, Blue Water Norway General Manager, who brings in his solid experience with Norway's seafood logistics after his earlier years with Schenker Norway from 2008, says Mr Nielsen.
