Nov 02, 2023 (newstodate): Billund Airport is now fast reining on the decline in cargo volumes after the drop in 2029/20 due to the Covid-19.
In January-October 2023, the airport was thus now "only" 4.3 percent down, y-o-y, handling a total of 61,944 tonnes including 15,051 tonnes of imports, down 3.8 percent, and 46,893 tonnes of exports, also still down 4.4 percent, y-o-y.
In October alone, total volumes were however up no less than 13.9 percent, y-o-y, to 6,941 tonnes including 1,701 tonnes of imports, up steeply by 31.8 percent, and 5,240 tonnes of exports also increasing by 9.1 percent, y-o-y.
The strong rebound this year is primarily driven by Maersk Air Cargo that made Billund Airport its European base starting from March 20, 2023.
