Nov 23, 2023 (newstodate): Sweden's passenger air connectivity at its capital airport at Stockholm has declined significantly over the last five years marked by the Covid-19.
This is the conclusion in a report produced by Copenhagen Economics in cooperation with SEO Economic Research on behalf of Visit Sweden, Region Stockholm and Swedavia.
Comparing Stockholm Airport to Helsinki, Oslo, Hamburg, Milan, Berlin, Vienna, Copenhagen, Dublin, Barcelona, Munich, Amsterdam, Paris and London, the report concludes that only the airports of Oslo, Hamburg and Helsinki have seen a lower air connectivity than Stockholm Airport in 2023.
Actually, the airport's overall provision of international air connectivity has declined by 24 percent and access to domestic connectivity has dropped by 32 percent between 2018 and 2023.
The greatest decline in connectivity at Stockholm Airport is seen in access to Asia, down by 54 percent; access to Nordic destinations is down by 25 percent; Europe beyond the Nordic region is down by 24 percent, Latin America by 21 percent; Africa down by 15, the Middle East by 10, and North America down by four percent, comparing pre-Covid 2018 and 2023.
