Oct 18, 2023 (newstodate): SITA's decision to pull out from Russia by September 2023 dealt a fresh blow to Russia civil aviation industry, including airport operations.
Without the SITA communication system, Russian airlines are no longer able to transmit data about flights, passengers and their luggage to international airports, and foreign airlines are unable to transmit data to Russian airports through the SITA channel.
In response, first St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport and now also Moscow Domodedovo Airport have implemented a project of transferring passenger services from SITA to a domestic platform, developed by the NeoLabs company.
-The transition to new systems had to go unnoticed and painlessly for both millions of travelers and foreign airlines flying from the airport, Denis Yarygin, Managing Director of Domodedovo IT, tells Russian media.
-It was important for us not only not to lose the services and functionality to which we are accustomed, but also to improve and develop the platform taking into account our wishes and needs, legal requirements and the changing IT landscape of the enterprise.
-Considering the high tourist season and the peak of passenger traffic that occurred during the project dates, its implementation was extremely difficult.
