Oct 18, 2023 (newstodate): With a 3,200 m runway, Poland's Rzeszow Airport is playing a crucial role in securing some air connectivity to Ukraine in times of Russian aggression.
Located only 100 km from the border with Ukraine, Rzeszow Airport is providing direct flights operated by low-cost airlines Wizz Air and Ryanair as well as LOT offering connections to Dublin, Milan and Rome during the upcoming winter 2023/24 schedule.
In next year's summer schedule, the provision of direct international flights will grow significantly with Lufthansa resuming flights to Munich, while Ryanair will add flights to Bristol, East Midlands, London Luton and Stansted and Manchester airports.
In summer 2024, LOT will also resume direct seasonal flights from Rzeszow Airport to New York Newark Airport.
Rzeszow Airport already plays a key role in serving Ukraine with air cargo and e-trade capabilities; competitor to Ukraine's state-owned postal service, the private Ukrainian postal and courier company Nova Poshta is seeing success with its parcel flights between Riga Airport in Latvia and Rzeszow.
The flight operations are performed with one ATR72 converted freighter on an ACMI contract with the Latvian carrier RAF-AVIA.
