Oct 25, 2023 (newstodate): Poland has now found its partners for construction of a new green-field, multi-modal mega airport, Centralny Port Kommunikacyjny, CPK.
CPK has selected Vinci Airports and IFM Global Infrastructure Fund as the preferred bidder in the competition for a strategic investor after talks with a wide range of candidates from Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
In Mid- 2022, CPK launched the tender process ending on October 13, 2023, with CPK’s decision to select the bid of Vinci Airports and IFM GIF on 49 percent of the shares in the projected airport.
The new airport will have two runways and be designed to handling of up to 40 million passengers per year in the first phase, with capacity to grow to 100 million passengers.
By 2060, the airport aims to have three parallel runways and capacity to handle 65 million passengers annually.
The government expects the constructions works to be completed in 2027, allowing for operating the new airport from 2028 and shutting down Warsaw Chopin Airport that has reached the ceiling at 20 mio passengers per year.
