Oct 03, 2023 (newstodate): For the fifth time this year, the Danish logistics company Scan Global Logistics has announced a new acquisition, this time in Portugal.
   New in the SGL family is the Portuguese logistics company FLS, Freight & Logistics Solutions, that operates an extensive network primarily in defense and military logistics that is also a strong segment in the business plan of Scan Global Logistics.
   With two offices in Lisbon and Funchal as well as a presence in Porto and Madeira, FLS is certified by NATO and has already worked with SGL teams on various regional projects.  
   -Portugal is an important gateway to South America and regions in Africa and completes the SGL’s footprint on the Iberic Peninsula, Scan Global Logistics says in an announcement of the acquisition.
   Over the last six months, SGL has acquired Sand Road Freight in Denmark, ETS Transport & Logistics, ETS Fulfillment in Germany and Belglobe in Switzerland - and plans for more acquisitions to be announced in the coming months.
   Driving the dynamic expansion of SGL is the Luxembourg-based investment company CVC Capital Partners Fund VIII's acquisition of a majority shareholding in SGL by February 2023, injecting fresh capital into the company and leading the way to the formation of a new Board, headed by the Danish industrial giant Nils Smedegaard Andersen, former CEO of Carlsberg and A.P. Moller - Maersk, in the seat of Chairman of the Board.
   Joining the new Board has also been Thomas Nieszner, former CEO of DHL Global Forwarding Europe/CEE, EMEA, and latest as Global CEO of DHL Global Forward - and a total of almost 20 years with DHL after seven years with Danzas.
