Jan 10, 2023 (newstodate): Germany seems ripe for launch of new commercial airlines in 2023.
Latest newcomer to the market is a start-up carrier in Bavia, Bavarian Airlines that has published its plans to launch of flights before the end of this year from its base at Munich.
The new carrier is currently in the process of obtaining its AOC and plans to be operating a fleet of up to 12 Embraer E195-E2s on lease contracts.
Initially, the airline is planning to launch flights on routes from Munich to Berlin, Dusseldorf, and Frankfurt with further plans for adding also flights to Amsterdam, Geneva, London-City and Vienna.
In December 2022, Nordic Aviation Group revealed the setting up of a new Estonia-based German carrier Marabu, slated to take off on direct routes from Hamburg and Munich in the summer 2023.
The capacity provider NAG is holding the AOC establishing the virtual carrier Marabu with a fleet of three Airbus A320neo aircraft on an ACMI contract and crew bases at the two German airports, with plans to grow the fleet further to six units at a later stage.
