Jan 26, 2023 (newstodate): The Avia Prime Group this week hosted a ceremony to mark the launch of the first Boeing 767-300 conversion in Europe.
The conversion program is located at JAT Tehnika's premises at Serbia's Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, and the first ex-passenger Boeing 767-300 aircraft is now undergoing a three months conversion process igniting the new business offered by the Avia Prime Group, set up by JAT Tehnika in Serbia, Linetech in Poland, and Adria Tehnika in Slovenia, and established in cooperation with the Israeli Aerospace Industries that earlier hinted at selecting Lithuania's Siauliai Airport as the first P2F center in Eastern Europe.
-Siauliai Airport is of interest to us because of the promising location for the development of our operations in Europe, and Lithuania as a market with a good investment environment and many qualified specialists in engineering and other fields. In addition, the country is already well-known in the aviation market, Refael Matalon, IAI Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, told media in 2019.
However, IAI instead opted for Serbia, beating the Lithuanian offer ion the first place - but not cooling down hopes for a rebound:
But plans for Israel Aerospace Industries to open a P2F center at Siauliai Airport are indeed still very much alive..
-Yes, construction works on the coming new facility at the airport were delayed, first due to Covid-19, and now also the war in Ukraine, says Povilas Podaigia, Aviatic MRO CEO, told newstodate in October '22.
-Actually, the construction works are now around 60 percent completed, and we expect operations to start by Q1/Q2, 2023.
