Jan 17, 2023 (newstodate): Looking ahead, the Scandinavian carrier SAS will still be operating a fleet of 134 aircraft in the years ahead, despite the recent drastic cuts and changes in its Forward-strategy.
In effect, the situation is vastly different compared to the pre-crisis years, as the carrier has minimized investments in own aircraft as part of its efforts to free capital and cut costs.
Of the 134 aircraft, only 22 will reportedly be owned by the SAS Group as another 77 aircraft are placed on various re-negotiated lease contracts, while another 35 aircraft are operated by wet-lease partners including Xfly and CityJet.
SAS is also to wet-lease three Boeing 737-800 aircraft from the Danish carrier Jettime during the coming summer schedule.
