Jan 16, 2023 (newstodate): With effect from March 22, 2023, Norwegian will turn to self-handling at Oslo Airport.
Announced in September 2022, Norwegian is thus ending its handling cooperation since 2015 with Menzies Aviation at Oslo, instead setting up handling by Red Handling Norway, a fully-owned subsidiary.
Norwegian has now tasked Manpower with the recruitment process for a new team of handling staff, probably primarily sourced among current Menzies-employees experienced with handling of Norwegian.
Red Handling that is also to take over de-icing of Norwegian's flights at Oslo Airport from March 2024, today provided by Menzies under a three-year contract signed in December 2021.
In 2016, Norwegian set up its own handling company, Red Handling, to serve its flight operations at London Gatwick Airport.
In January 2022, Red Handling UK however found a new owner: the US company Fenix Logistix Ireland that took over Red Handling from February 1, 2022, as part of its decision to develop business opportunities in Ireland, the UK and throughout Europe.
Fenix Logistix Ireland is part of the Fenix Logistix Inc Group, based in Seattle USA and delivering ground handling services at several US locations along with airline logistical support.
