Jan 24, 2023 (newstodate): Uzbekistan is soon to see the launch of a new low-cost carrier, Centrum Air.
To be based at Tashkent Airport, the carrier, set up by the Uzbek cargo airline My Freighter, will start out with a fleet of five aircraft including two Boeing 737 and three Airbus A320 aircraft, but plans are to grow the fleet to up to 20 aircraft already before the end of 2023, and lofty visions are to have some 100 aircraft in the air by 2026, God willing...
From the start, the airline will offer domestic flights connecting five airports in Uzbekistan, and later to expand the network to comprise international destinations in markets including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, India, and South Korea.
Established in 2019, the parent company My Freighter was first in Uzbekistan to register a Boeing 747-200 freighter aircraft, and has aired ambitious plans for adding up to five more similar aircraft and grow the fleet to 20 units within five years.
