Jan 04, 2023, (newstodate): In the air since 1993, the Latvian charter and wet-lease carrier SmartLynx is taking a global look on its growth potentials.
Based on LatCharter and since September 2019 a member of the Avia Solutions Group, the carrier today generates less than three percent of its revenues in the Latvian home market, and only between six and seven percent in the Baltic markets including also Estonia and Lithuania.
-Today, most of our revenues come from the EU countries, with UK, Germany and the Benelux at the top, but at the same time we are a global company, expanding our operations outside the borders of Europe, SmartLynx CEO Zygimantas Surintas says in a Latvian interview.
Looking forward, SmartLynx will seek to grow its revenues outside Europe by 10-15 percent in 2023, and MEA, Asian and African markets are also in the focus.
In the fleet today are 49 aircraft, set to grow to 65 by summer 2023, making the carrier Latvia's by far largest airline operator.
