Jan 10, 2023 (newstodate): The freighter aircraft to launch the coming new Faroese carrier FarCargo has left the paint shop pending delivery later in Q1, 2023.
The converted Boeing 757-200F aircraft last served with the Russian airline Aviastar from November 2018 and was later parked at Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport from March 2022.
When delivered, the aircraft with Danish registration will be placed on the AOC of West Atlantic Sweden, partnering with FarCargo till the airline obtains an own AOC at a later stage.
Originally, plans were to take delivery of the aircraft placed on the AOC of West Atlantic Sweden already by early December 2022, but the process obviously ran into delays.
After that, flights from Vagar Airport to the first US destination, New York Newark Airport, would commence in January or February 2023 with an initial frequency of three to five monthly rotations from Vagar Airport, carrying Faroese seafood for the prime owner of the airline, Bakkafrost, and be put on the general cargo market for uplift from the USA to Europe, returning to the Faroe Islands via Copenhagen Airport.
