Jan 12, 2023 (newstodate): Finnair's wet-lease contract with Eurowings will expire by the start of the coming summer 2023 schedule - and not be prolonged.
The Lufthansa Group subsidiary Eurowings took in two Airbus A350 in May and one more in June 2022, on a wet-lease contract with Finnair.
And in November 2022, Eurowings announced that it would also be operating some of its flights from Germany to the USA with aircraft and crews from Finnair in summer '23.
According to plans, Finnair would start operating flights for Eurowings from Frankfurt to Tampa and Las Vegas and from Munich to Las Vegas with the first operations on June 15, 2023, and Finnair applied to the US regulator to obtain the pertinent authorization.
This is not, however, going to be, and Finnair claims need for the aircraft to operate its own schedule.
