Jan 25, 2023 (newstodate): Air Greenland is now one of the few operators of the special version of the Airbus A330, the -800 version.
The carrier took delivery of the aircraft on December 7, 2022, and is now operating the aircraft on the trunk route between Greenland and Denmark, served daily.
Only 15 aircraft of this type has been ordered from airlines including Kuwait Airways and Uganda Airlines.
Now, the EU Aviation Safety Agency EASA has issued an Airworthiness Directive warning of production mistakes in the production of certain Airbus A330-200 and A330-800 aircraft that may lead to structural failure during flight.
Operators must now make modifications to 39 aircraft of recent production years within a defined period of time.
The AD concerns three A330-800 aircraft produced between 2017 and 2020, which would seemingly exclude any problems with Air Greenland's A330-800 aircraft.
