Sep 13, 2022 (newstodate): The Ukrainian resistance against Russia's invasion of the country comprises the aviation business as well.
The country's SkyUp Airlines is actively seeking ways of survival to support the economy of Ukraine and preserving workplaces.
Despite significant operational difficulties caused by the invasion, SkyUp keeps standing and continues to operate, and as of August 31, 2022, about 80 percent of SkyUp's employees are partially or fully employed, while the company works hard to restore its former capacity in full.
In addition to performing many operations carrying humanitarian and aid cargo, SkyUp Airlines has been offering wet lease of its aircraft to the international aviation market, allowing the airline to gradually resume operations already from February 2022.
SkyUp Airlines has thus concluded wet-lease contracts with nine companies, of which five airlines continue to cooperate SkyUp Airlines' aircraft.
Since the start of the war, SkyUp aircraft have operated 4,219 flights and transported 619,527 passengers to 227 destinations, and operations have successfully passed pertinent safety inspections.
In August, SkyUp Airlines took delivery of one more Boeing 737-800 aircraft, bringing the fleet to two Boeing 737-700 and 10 Boeing 737-800.
In Turkey, SkyUp has launched a Sky-Stream linear service station with 4 staff at Antalya, currently serving the company's fleet exclusively.
The station is already servicing four SkyUp aircraft, and two more aircraft will be added later this autumn.
