Sep 15, 2022 (newstodate): Excluding Norway, Ryanair is bent on expansion in the Scandinavian markets.
Following on the announcement at a press briefing in Copenhagen on September 14, 2022, of its biggest-ever winter 2022/23 schedule in Denmark, with more than 400 weekly flights across 53 routes, including six new winter routes to major European cities such as Birmingham, Madrid, Porto, Turin, Vienna, and Venice, Ryanair has also revealed growth plans for the Swedish market.
Ryanair will launch 13 new direct routes from Stockholm Arlanda Airport this winter, six of which are all new routes, and half of which are new European destinations.
Ryanair will thus be offering over 420 weekly flights across 56 routes, including 15 new routes to destinations including Birmingham, Malta, Pisa, Turin, Tuzla and Valencia.
Altogether, the airline has launched 44 new direct routes from its new base at Arlanda since its opening.
Ryanair opened its new base at Stockholm Airport from the start of the winter 2021/22 schedule, allocating two aircraft to operate 89 flights per week serving 21 new routes to 15 countries, and in November 2021, Ryanair announced its decision to add two more aircraft at Stockholm by this summer '22 to provide flights to another 12 routes.
