Sep 27, 2022 (newstodate): Russia is mulling plans for the legal acquisition of the host of western-owned aircraft today forcefully kept in the country under the sanctions imposed on trade.
According to industry media, the Russian government is now discussing with 20 of the country's airlines to buy out the western leasing companies to take ownership of the almost 740 commercial aircraft through the use of means from its national welfare fund.
Even if the airlines actually agree to the plan, money transfer would still pose a major problem after the closure of Russian banks' access to the international money transfer systems.
