Sep 22, 2022 (newstodate): Speaking about Norwegian seafood requires all digits on the calculator...
This week's conference in Oslo, The Future of Norwegian Seafood Logistics 2022, again proved the agility and global reach of the country's production and export volumes of seafood.
A major global player in the market is MOWI that in 2021 produced no less than 466,000 tonnes of seafood, notably salmon, at sites inside and outside of Norway, and the company is now looking forward to opening its new seafood cargo terminal at Oslo Airport, doubling its current capacity, according to Lars Tomte, Air Cargo Manager, Mowi Markets Norway.
The volumes of flown seafood from Oslo Airport are also estimated to grow from today's 260,000 tonnes to up to 350,000 tonnes in five years, according to Tom Mikkelsen, CEO and founder of Mikkelsen Consulting.
In 2021, the leading seafood cargo terminal at Oslo Airport, GPC, handled 108,000 tonnes of seafood and will look forward to the completion of its coming new 20,000 handling facility at the airport, expanding its handling capacity by three times the current capacity, said Torgil Staalberg, GPC Managing Director.
