Sep 09, 2022 (newstodate): Finnair has announced a radical shift in strategy to survive after losing its prime asset, Russian overflight rights.
Besides strenuous cost-cutting efforts to return operations to profitability, the strategy turns the focus away from Asia to other regions, primarily North America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
This shift has deep implications on the future fleet composition that will require also fewer long-haul aircraft.
To steer the fleet planning into new directions will be Christine Rovelli, appointed new Snr VP, Strategy and Fleet, and member of the Executive Board at Finnair, from October 1, 2022.
On the background of a strong career from 1999 in international banking and financing institutions, Christine Rovelli joined Finnair in 2012, today in the position as Finnair Snr VP, Finance and Fleet management.
Holding this position today and since May 2019, Nicklas Ilebrand will leave Finnair towards the end of the year, working in an Executive Advisor role as his successor takes the chair.
