Sep 16, 2022 (newstodate): On September 8, 2022, Maersk Air Cargo started the process with the US DOT to amend and reissue Star Air's foreign air carrier permit in the company’s new legal name, Maersk Air Cargo.
In the first phase, and in addition to serving Star Air's integrator customers as hitherto, Maersk Air Cargo will operate three Boeing 767 freighters currently being converted from passenger versions to be based at Denmark's Billund Airport for cargo flights between Europe and China, adding two new ex-factory Boeing 777F aircraft in late 2024 dedicated to serving customers of Maersk Air Cargo.
The carrier has been recruiting some 60 pilots and captains - which is presumably an easy task as more than 3,500 applicants have so far filed their papers..
