Sep 08, 2022 (newstodate): Despite the Russian airspace closure, most cargo figures improved year-on-year and remained close to July 2022 figures in August, says Finnair in a comment on the August '22 statistics.
A total of 9,207 tonnes of cargo was carried by the airline, up 40.4 percent, y-o-y, thanks to an increase in volumes on the NAM routes by 50.7 percent, to 2,572 tonnes, while loads on the Asian traffic were still also up by 52 percent to 4,559 tonnes.
Cargo on European routes are growing well, up 790 percent, y-o-y, to 1,965 tonnes reflecting the resurgence of flights on the European network.
In January-August 2022, the carrier has lifted a total of 82,799 tonnes, an increase by 53.9 percent including 23,091 tonnes on the NAM lines that has seen a growth by 470 percent.
However, Finnair's Asian loads in the period were up "only" 75.3 percent to 36,143 tonnes as Finnair and Helsinki Airport lost its geographical advantage with the closure of the Russian airspace.
