Sep 26, 2022 (newstodate): After a brief period, the regional airport at Tartu, Estonia, is losing its only commercial airline, Finnair.
Finnair is thus suspending flights on the route connecting Tartu and Helsinki Airport by the end of this schedule, after having served the route since March 28, 2022. There is currently no indication of whether the airline will return services from next year's summer schedule.
This leaves Tartu Airport with only two missions; one is serving future pilots of the Estonian Aviation Academy with training opportunities, and the other is serving Tartu University Hospital with medical and emergency flights.
Opened in 1946, Tartu Airport has one 1,799 m runway.
