Sep 14, 2022 (newstodate): In first eight months of 2022, total cargo volumes handled at Copenhagen Airport increased by 12 percent, y-o-y, to 201,596 tonnes.
However, compared to August 2021, the total volumes handled at the airport were up by only six percent, and the eight-months volumes were still 19 percent under 2019-levels for the period.
Excluding the integrator traffic, cargo on legacy carriers increased by 12.7 percent, y-o-y, to 137,720 tonnes, which was not least due to growing belly cargo volumes on passenger aircraft that were up by 17.4 percent to 71,584 tonnes, reflecting the sustained return of scheduled passenger traffic.
However, the airport's cargo volumes also reflect the effects from the closure of Russian airspace, forcing operators to operate longer flying hours with less cargo capacity on international flights from Copenhagen to destinations including Tokyo, Shanghai, and Beijing.
