This thinking may be driving the Hungarian LCC Wizz Air to reopen traffic to Moscow in Russia from October 2022 to compete with other Gulf carriers that also do not endorse the sanctions on Russia.
Wizz Air will conveniently benefit from its subsidiary in Abu Dhabi, set up as a 50/50 JV announced in June 2020, with stakeholders including Wizz Air and Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company, with its focus on traffic between Abu Dhabi and destinations in Russia, Africa, India and Eastern Europe, including the Balkan markets of Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro.
The flights will commence from October 3, 2022, with daily rotations between Abu Dhabi and Moscow.
