Aug 10, 2022 (newstodate): Not surprisingly, the Volga-Dnepr Group is now to reduce its Boeing aircraft flight crews significantly.
Due to the sanctions on Russian airlines, the three carriers in the Group, Volga-Dnepr Airlines, Atran Airlines and AirBridgeCargo, have been forced to reduce operating western-made aircraft including 27 Boeing 747 and Boeing 737 freighters.
Before the enforcement of the sanctions due to Russia's aggression on Ukraine, the Volga-Dnepr Group airlines' share of Russia's total cargo industry was over 50 percent.
Now, more than 200 pilots are made redundant as the Group maintains only a small group of Boeing cockpit crews in case the Russian authorities should order the return of Boeing aircraft to their lessors.
