Aug 11, 2022 (newstodate): Nordic Aviation Capital has landed a new order with the Swedish regional and charter carrier BRA, Braathens Regional Airlines, for two ATR 72-600 aircraft.
The aircraft will be placed on a long-term operating lease contract, taking the airline's fleet to a total of 14 aircraft.
One ATR72-600 is delivered from the manufacturer in Toulouse this week, while the second aircraft will be delivered in October '22.
In July this year, Braathens also issued a Request For Proposals to aircraft lessors for five Airbus A319 aircraft to be operated for the Scandinavian tour operator Nordic Leisure Travel Group.
In June 2022, Braathens Regional Airlines landed a contract with tour operator Ving, part of the Nordic Leisure Travel Group, for charter flights between Scandinavia and Mediterranean leisure destinations.
Under a three-year contract comprising the summer seasons of 2023-25, BRA will provide capacity for a flight program starting on April 27, 2023, from 26 airports in Sweden, Norway and Denmark to destinations in Greece, Spain, Croatia, Cyprus, the Canary Islands and Turkey.
Braathens expects to finalize lease agreements for these Airbus aircraft already by October this year, in time for the coming winter's leisure charter traffic.
Today, Braathens is operating only ATR72-600 aircraft after deciding, in 2019, to phase out its fleet of 10 AVRO RJ100 and RJ85 jet aircraft.
