Aug 11, 2022 (newstodate): The new Norwegian LCC Flyr is heading for expansion of its route network, flight frequencies, as well as growing its aircraft fleet.
The expansion covers the opening on September 2, 2022, of flights on a new domestic route from Oslo to Kristiansund, as well as significant increases in frequency on several of the existing routes from Oslo to six domestic destinations, leaving only two of the country's major airports in the northern part of Norway, Alta and Kirkenes, un-served as per the current plan.
Flyr is also preparing to take in its 12th aircraft by the turn of this month, the 6th Boeing 737 MAX 8.
In the fleet are now six Boeing 737-800 aircraft, and plans are to expand the fleet to 12-18 aircraft by the end of this year.
On June 16, 2021, Flyr received its AOC by the Norwegian CAA, starting out with the lease of two ex-Pegasus Boeing 737-800 aircraft from the UK aircraft leasing company Pembroke.
