Aug 25, 2022 (newstodate): With constructions works still going on, the Polish Airports State Enterprise has now set spring 2023 for the opening of flights at Warszawa-Radom Airport.
The airport has been in operation since 1920 and has served as a dual military/civil airport, relieving the growing pressure on Warsaw's Chopin Airport.
Reconstruction of the airport including an extension of the runway and expansion of the passenger terminal started in May 2019, but completion of the works and the launch of operations were delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Now, the Polish Airports State Enterprise has announced March/April 2023 for the opening date, announcing the first three routes to be launched by LOT from Radom to Copenhagen, Paris and Rome, each served by three weekly rotations using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
