Aug 09, 2022 (newstodate): Armenia's new national carrier Fly Arna has now launched flights on the first two routes.
The airline’s first route was opened from Yerevan Zvartnots International on July 3 to Hurghada International in Egypt with two weekly rotations, followed by flights from July 4 from Yerevan to Sharm El Sheikh with three weekly rotations.
In the pipeline are flights from Yerevan to Beirut and Kuwait, subject to government approval, with three weekly rotations.
On the wishing-list of Fly Arna are also flights to EU destinations - but since June 2020 all Armenian air carriers are included on the EU Air Safety List due to lack of compliance with EU air safety regulations.
In the fleet of Fly Arna is now only one Airbus A320neo on a lease contract with its joint venture partner Air Arabia, but the airline is in talks with aircraft lessors for adding one more Airbus A320 aircraft to allow for expansion of the flights and route program.
Managed by Antony Price as CEO, Fly Arna was established by a JV announced in July 2021 between the Armenian National Interests Fund and the Sharjah-based Air Arabia Group.
