Aug 01, 2022 (newstodate): So far a staunch Airbus aircraft operator, the Latvian ACMI and charter operator SmartLynx Airlines is now building a fleet of Boeing aircraft as well.
The carrier received its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on May 31, 2022, and is now operating two aircraft of this type leased from SMBC Aviation Capital.
Already in the first half of this month, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet will be expanded with delivery of a further two units, and SmartLynx Airlines plans to have a total of some 60 Boeing and Airbus aircraft in the fleet by the end of this summer, ranking as the largest air fleet operator in the Baltic States.
SmartLynx Airlines' long-term clients include EasyJet, TUI, Jet2, and recently companies including DHL, Qatar Airlines, Air Peace, Royal Air Morocco and others have joined the portfolio.
