Aug 08, 2022 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic has landed a fresh wet-lease agreement with Swiss covering the coming winter 2022/23 schedule.
Under the agreement, airBaltic will allocate up to six Airbus A220-300 aircraft with airBaltic cockpit and cabin crews for flights on behalf of Swiss on the airline's European route network.
Swiss is thus bolstering its own aircraft capacity with Airbus A220-300 aircraft on top of its own fleet of 21 similar aircraft, alongside a similar agreement with Helvetica Airways providing a further six Embraer E190 aircraft.
In airBaltic's fleet of 36 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, 11 units have been on similar lease operations this summer with airline customers including Eurowings and SAS, while six aircraft are today stuck on ground due to lack of spares as supply chains are disrupted because of the covid-19 aftermath and Russia's war on Ukraine
