Aug 01, 2022 (newstodate): After another pause, Finnair is soon back on the route from Helsinki to Guangzhou in China.
Flights on the route will be resumed from September 6, 2022, initially with one weekly rotation using Airbus A350 aircraft.
The outbreak of coronavirus brought traffic to a stop in 2020; flight were reopened in the winter 2021/22 schedule from November 2, 2021, but suspended again as the lockdown was reinforced.
Guangzhou became Finnair's fourth Chinese destination from September 4, 2005, with three weekly MD-11 rotations, going up to four rotations from summer 2006, but the carrier pulled out from the route from winter 2009 as recession set in.
Finnair however returned to Guangzhou from May 6, 2015, with four weekly rotations during the summer schedules.
