Aug 02, 2022 (newstodate): Unlike Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport, the two other main Swedavia-managed airports at Gothenburg and Malmo reported sustained negative cargo growth in H1, 2022.
Gothenburg Airport thus saw its flown cargo volumes down by 10.6 percent, y-o-y, to 9,152 tonnes including 3,927 tonnes of imports and 5,225 tonnes of exports - down 15.5 and 6.9 percent, y-o-y, respectively.
The over-all decline reflects the slow return of scheduled passenger flights in 2022.
Malmo Airport reports a similar decline with an 18.6 percent drop in volumes to only 339 tonnes, including imports at 5,802 tonnes, down 16.1 percent, and 4,969 tonnes of exports, also down 21.5 percent, y-o-y.
Malmo's poor performance is primarily due to the shortfall of integrator traffic after the loss of TNT operations that moved to Copenhagen Airport after the company's acquisition by FedEx.
